Does manual therapy hurt?

Manual therapy is a non-invasive form of bodywork that can be intense at times. If you have a sore low back when you enter the office, manual therapy and deep tissue bodywork performed may be somewhat tender to that area. However, in minutes the pain will begin to diminish, and you should leave your session with little to no pain, and freedom of range of motion. Top

How is medical massage different from a massage in a spa?

Massage is the manipulation of the soft tissues with the hands, arms, elbows, and feet. The massage you receive in a spa setting will be very calming and is designed to relax and rejuvenate. Medical massage utilizes appropriate assessment tools to uncover specific areas of tension and pain. Your medical massage therapist will assess certain postures and mechinisms of injury to set up a treatment protocol to get you relief quickly. Oftentimes a massage in a spa setting will be a 60-80 minutes in length, while medical massage is much more precise and can range in time from 15-60 minutes. Top
