Rehabilitation and PT

The purpose of rehabilitaition is to develop, maintain and restore maximum movement and functional ability. It involves the interaction between the patient and the provider in a process of assessing movement potential and establishing agreed upon goals and objectives.

Depending on the patient and the goals agreed upon, therapy may involve the following: manual therapies; movement enhancement electrotherapeutic and mechanical agents; functional training; provision of aids and appliances; patient related instruction and counseling; documentation and coordination, and communication. Intervention may also be aimed at prevention of impairments, functional limitations, disability and injury including the promotion and maintenance of health, quality of life, and fitness in all ages and populations.

Some of the conditions that rehabilitation is appropriate for include:

  • back and neck pain
  • spinal and joint conditions, such as arthritis
  • biomechanical problems and muscular control
  • sport-related injuries
  • headaches (cervicogenic and tension-type headache)
  • auto injuries
  • work injuries

Various therapeutic modalities are available, including exercise prescription (strength, motor control, stretching and endurance), manual therapy techniques like joint mobilization/manipulation, soft tissue massage, ultrasound, cryotherapy, heat therapy, iontophoresis and electrotherapy.

At the Center for Advanced Bodywork we will customize an appropriate therapy and treatment protocol to your individual needs. Our focus isn't just to get your range of motion and strength back following surgery or injury, we want to make sure that the rest of your body maintains proper health and wellness throughout your rehabilitation program.
